Financing your mobility

There are a number of different ways to finance your mobility. They depend on the type of mobility, your situation or more specific criteria.

The following criteria are taken into account:

  • the type of mobility;
  • income level (taxable or non-taxable, particularly for the Mermoz regional scholarship);
  • any co-financing for mobility;
  • study destination;
  • the length of stay;
  • the possibility of future mobility.

Funding is only paid out once the start of mobility has been attested.

The different types of financing

For long-term mobility, the eligibility criteria for the ERASMUS allowance are as follows:

.
  • mobility of at least 60 days;
  • complete a maximum of 12 months' mobility per study cycle - a maximum of 24 months' mobility per cycle for engineering students.

The amounts paid differ depending on the destination. They range from 276€/month for countries belonging to groups 2 and 3, to 327€/month for those in group 1, supplemented by a monthly supplement of 150€ for internship mobilities.

  • Group 1 countries: Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy
  • Group 2 countries: Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Czech Republic
  • Group 3 countries: Lithuania, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia

A "Forfait voyage" supplement is offered on proof of transport. It depends on the number of kilometers to be covered to the mobility destination and the means of transport used, either a standard means of transport (plane), or one with a reduced carbon footprint (bus, train, supervised carpooling, ...)

Inclusion and equal opportunities being priorities of the Erasmus + program, students with the least opportunities can benefit from additional funding of up to €250 per month upon presentation of the required supporting documents. This is the Financial supplement "Least opportunities" for students in one of the following situations:

Partial funding may be applied, meaning that the duration of funding awarded will not correspond to the actual duration of mobility.

The ERASMUS grant can be combined with the AMI or Mermoz scholarship, depending on the commission's decision.

Study and internship mobility can take place in a hybrid format, combining a virtual activity with short-term physical mobility (5 to 30 days). The hybrid format is mandatory for short student mobility in bachelor's and master's programs.

These short mobilities can be financed up to €79 per day up to the 14th day of activity and €56 per day for any additional day up to a limit of 30 days.

A travel package is awarded according to the distance between the sending and receiving establishments and the mode of transport used.

A "Fewer opportunities" financial supplement is awarded to less-favored students (see in tab ERASMUS aid (studies/internships) - long mobility). It amounts to €100 for mobilities of up to 14 days and €150 beyond that.

The Aide à la Mobilité Internationale (AMI)enables scholarship-holding students to pursue higher education abroad as part of an exchange program or an international internship.

The payment of this aid is subject to the following criteria:

    The amount of the AMI is €400 per full month. AMI can be combined with the Erasmus + grant.

    Initiated by the Hauts-de-France Regional Council, the Bourse Mermoz provides assistance to students wishing to undertake a training course, an internship or a research stay in a laboratory abroad.

    .

    The Mermoz Scholarship is aimed at students in initial training at BAC +2 to BAC +5 level for an internship or course of study, as well as those at BAC +6 to BAC +8 level for a research stay.

    Eligible students must have a family income less than or equal to €30,000.

    The duration of mobility is also an eligibility criterion, namely:

    • for study mobilities: 4 to 26 consecutive weeks
    • for internship mobilities: 12 to 26 consecutive weeks
    • for research stays: 12 to 26 consecutive weeks

    The amount of the Mermoz Scholarship awarded to each beneficiary is individualized. The maximum amount of the grant is 400€ per month or 92.40 per week then degressive according to the family quotient. Students with scholarship can benefit from an additional 300€ on presentation of supporting documents. Students with disabilities can benefit from an additional 100€.

    If you are not eligible for any of the above grants, and if you have no funding (organization, host establishment, etc.), you may be eligible for an own-funds grant of up to €500.

    .

    To qualify, several criteria must be met:

    • mobility of at least 2 months (60 days) consecutively;
    • be enrolled in a BAC +2 to BAC +5 course;
    • provide the French tax notice of the household to which the student is fiscally attached.

    Foreign students are not eligible if mobility is being carried out in their home country.
