The Space Intelligence Chair
In 2021 UPHF has created a Space Intelligence research chair within the university. The principle of the chair is to constitute an initial core of excellence and autonomy that makes possible an expansion obtained through third-party funding of projects initiated by the chair. This core provides a coherent and stable framework, with dedicated staff and guaranteed funding.

In times of societal crises (health, security, etc.), the need for security among individuals and societies tends to grow. Intelligent video surveillance is one of the emerging technologies that can help make territories more agile in the face of abnormal events. This technology deploys machine-learning and deep-learning algorithms to automate complex tasks such as person detection, action recognition, individual tracking and so on. Although these systems have demonstrated high capabilities in solving large-scale problems, their democratization is still limited.

The project " New development models and vectors for the former mining basin of Nord and Pas-de-Calais ", funded since February 2022 as part of the Federative Institute for Research on Territorial Renewal (IF2RT) brings together more than a dozen researchers attached to the laboratories of the four universities involved in the Institute (University of Artois, Gustave Eiffel University, University of Lille, Polytechnic University Hauts-de-France).This research focuses on the dynamics, actors and tools of the transition of the former mining basin of Nord and Pas-de-Calais. It is based on the historical analysis of the plural policies and mobilizations, which since 1945 and until today, have been driven to the service of the renewal of this territory, its economy, its transport, housing and energy production infrastructures
