Dialogue around a school reconstruction project
Following on from an initial conference held on November 21, 2024 with the Mayor of Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes, Laurent Depagne, and his deputies, this new meeting aims above all to be interactive and participative.
The aim? To give a voice to the key players in the Émile Zola school group reconstruction project and encourage exchanges with our Civil Engineering students. Representatives from the contracting authority (Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes town council), the project management team (Amélie Fontaine architecture studio) and the construction company (Eiffage) will share their concrete experience of the project: from its launch to its completion, including its day-to-day management.
.Speakers:
- Nadia Duval, Deputy General Manager - Urban Planning & Major Projects, Commune of Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes
- Aurore Mayeur, architect, atelier d'architecture Amélie Fontaine
- Aurélie Lobry, construction supervisor (former student of the GCAU FA master's program - class of 2024-2025), Xavier Manavit, senior site supervisor, and Antonio Chioli, branch manager - Eiffage Construction Nord Pas-de-Calais

On the program: two highlights
🔹 The first to understand the birth of the project: its initial idea, the architectural concept and the response to the call for tenders, explained by the players from the three masters.
🔹 The second to enter the vif of the subject: the building site. Preparation, start-up, organization and progress of the school reconstruction site... The company Eiffage Construction will share the realities on the ground and the concrete challenges of construction management.
Each sequence will be followed by a exchange time with the students, to ask your questions, compare points of view and discover what goes on behind the scenes of a major architectural project.
An opportunity for our students to step out of the theoretical realm, meet industry professionals and better project themselves into their future careers in Civil Engineering.
