Margin Dynamics: Centers and Peripheries

SaturdayMarch 18, nearly 80 people were gathered for the "female engineer" morning organized by the association "womenengineers" from the Nord Pas-de-Calais region at INSA HdF.

After a presentation by the DRAIO of the Lille rectorate on the low number of girls choosing math and engineering for their studies, the high school girls accompanied by their parents were able to listen to testimonies of female students from different Grandes Ecoles, such as Lolita and Laure, Clara, Amélie, Lisa and Zélie. Their backgrounds are varied: CPGE, BUT, in training under student or apprentice status, in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other fields, all testify to doing things they love. Then, sixwomenengineerstestify about their daily lives, their careers, their family life possible thanks to the respectable salary of engineers.

The surveys showed a more open evolution towards the engineering professions between the beginning and the end of the morning, which ends with exchanges around a small cocktail.

Since October 2022, the thesis defense process has been completely dematerialized.

Located near downtown Cambrai, the Cambrai University Center covers more than 5,000 square meters and accommodates nearly 1,000 students.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, the Institute of Societies and Humanities (ISH) hosted the second edition of the Alterne & Go!" event at the Institute of Sustainable Mobility and Transportation (IMTD) building.

This year, for the 7th edition of Olympic and Paralympic Week 2023 from Ministry of National Education and Youth and Paris 2024, we were fortunate enough to host swimmer Cyrielle Duhamel, a medal hopeful in swimming at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Her visit to our offices first of all gave rise to an inspiring 1.5-hour audience during which nearly 250 STAPS students (specialized in swimming and/or high-level athletes from the university) were able to learn more about the career path of this professional sportswoman and ask some questions.

Then, the young champion made an intervention during a master course on physical and mental preparation.

Thank you to Thierry REVAUX for the organization of this beautiful event that allowed a nice exchange between our students and a high level sportswoman.
